From what I know about podcasting, it is a tool that is used that can include visual, audio effects in their presentations. This information can almost instantly be delivered over a network and played on computers and hand held devices. This can be useful for both teachers and students. Basiclly, it is another new way for kids to learn. I think podcasts can be very useful. I think it is also more enjoyable, its kind of fun in a way and it makes learning a little more interesting. This is the thing though, stuff like this can be used on iPods and other handheld devices. Therefore, I think in many cases kids will end up using their iPods for other things than education, like music and movies. So I think that’s one thing people have to consider, but other than that I think that it is all good.

The fact that information is automatically sent over a network in a matter of seconds, makes podcasting that much easier. It makes it very useful for BOTH the students and teacher, which is very important, so that was good to mention in your blog. It is definitely more enjoyable for the students and I think if a survey was given to students, the majority would agree about that too. There is still the concern that students might abuse the leeway that they are given since stuff could be used on iPods and I am glad that you brought up that point. Good Jobbbbb!:-)
You my friend, are a complete and utter moron if you believe that students should be allowed to have and use an iPod during class. The only thing that makes this even seem like a good way to teach students is over a far distance and even then it is not effective because of the questions that a student might have for the teacher. A better way to allow long distance communication would be to use a meeting software and web cams this way the teacher would be able to see that the students are paying attention and make it seem less like they are speaking to a computer. As for being more interesting, that is a matter of personal preference, I would not enjoy having a teacher podcast a presentation to 30 or so students in a classroom because there is always some stupid idiot that can't get his device to work properly. I am afraid that you would probably fall under that category due to the fact that you think that podcasting is "all good." You would probably enjoy the 15-30 minutes it would take just to get everyone ready for the class it self given your disregard for writing in an effective manner. If this is the type of education my tax dollars go to I demand a refund.
